Amy VanScoter
Come see the difference slowing down can make. Amy VanScoter has been practicing yoga for more than 20 years. Her classes help to reset your nervous system, build resilience, and are inclusive and adaptive. Amy has practiced and learned from many different traditions of yoga over the years. She currently teaches Slow, Mindful Yoga which is Subtle Yoga Inspired. She received her yoga teacher training certification in 2008 from Subtle Yoga in Asheville, NC, with Kristine Kaoverii Weber, with whom she continually studies. She is registered as an experienced yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance. Amy’s classes include slow, mindful movements, flows, and briefly held postures, aromatherapy with essential oils, self massage, acupressure, guided meditation, and breathing practices (pranayama). The slower pace of these classes is more conducive to the meditative practices of mindfulness of action and awareness of breathing. This makes it particularly well-suited to newer students, or for those advanced students who desire deep concentration, slowing down, and going within during their practice. Amy teaches yoga as a lifestyle and a complete system (not just asana), incorporating traditional yoga philosophy into her classes. Her hope is that her classes will inspire students to develop a deeper understanding and connection with themselves promoting feelings of self acceptance, love, and interconnectedness.
